SUBWAY® Music in the Zoo Survival Guide

Here’s some gentle advice on how to get the most out of your Music in the Zoo experience this summer.

As you drive in you will find our friendly parking attendants who will ask you for $5 and direct you into the parking lots adjacent to the Zoo entrance.

At the outdoor ticket booths there are staff who will take care of will call, guest lists & ticket sales or whatever your needs call for.  Say “hi” to Tamsen and Amy or any of the other Sue McLean Associates

Starting this year, we will be using an outdoor entrance and ticket booths.  You will not be going into the buildings and it is about a 1/3 mile outdoor walk to the Amphitheater. However, umbrellas are not allowed so bring ponchos & raincoats instead.?

On your way to the Amphitheater, you can get some food or beverages at the Tiger Treats food stand. For food there’s stacker sandwiches, pizza, pretzels, hot dogs, etc.  For beverages, you can get cold Summit Beer, wine, soft drinks & such.

At the security checkpoint, your purses & bags will be searched just before your tickets are taken. There are no outside drinks or food allowed. Camera without removable lens are allowed, but no video cameras. All the Zoo shows are rain or shine. However, umbrellas are not allowed so bring ponchos & raincoats instead.

Visit the merchandise booth where you will find posters (designed by Jesse Brodd), t-shirts, Music in the Zoo CDs (Don’t Feed the Musicians Vol. 7), & great band merch for sale. You can even pick up a free Music in the Zoo schedule fridge magnet.

As you enter the concert bowl, there are many helpful concert ushers ready to show you to your seat. If you have an SRO (standing room only) pass, you will find many places to view the concert from behind the line on top & along the sides. Most of the time, the shows are dance friendly. Dancers are many times allowed down in front of the band in the orchestra pit area. The VIP boxes along the top of the bowl are comfortable & also have great sight-lines.Try to be respectful to other concert goers so everyone is ensured a good time.

Shows with opening bands begin promptly at 7:30pm with headliners playing 90 or 120 minute shows. “An Evening with...” shows start right at 7:30pm & have a half hour break between sets. All shows will conclude at the 10:30pm curfew.

There is no smoking in the amphitheater but there is an area provided for smokers to indulge past the restrooms located at the top of the amphitheater.

You might see our official Zoo photographer Greg Gibson roaming around with his camera. Feel free to say hi & possibly even get your picture taken for the website’s fan photos gallery.

As you leave, please remember not to drink and drive. Carpool or have a designated driver if possible.

Be responsible and have a great night at the SUBWAY® Music in the Zoo Concert Series 2011!
