Eurythmics frontman Dave Stewart and his 30-Piece Rock Fabulous
Orchestra will play the Pantages Theatre on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. as part of
a full-scale North American tour. The show will highlight songs from Stewart’s vast catalog of hits performed in one-of-a-kind orchestral arrangements–from the Eurythmics “Sweet Dreams” and “Here Comes the Rain Again” to other Stewart classics including Tom Petty’s “Don’t Come Around Here No More” and Mick Jagger’s Golden Globe-winning “Old Habits Die Hard.” His “30-piece rock fabulous orchestra” will feature a core touring band and a local orchestra including violins, saxophones and violas along with a trumpet, flute and clarinet. Described by Bob Dylan as “a fearless innovator” and by Rolling Stone Magazine as “the
musician’s musician,” Dave Stewart has been a singer-songwriter and record producer for more than 30 years. He has won numerous awards including a 1986 Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal for “Missionary Man” with his Eurythmics’ partner Annie Lennox. Both were honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 1999 Brit Awards. In August 2008, Stewart’s company, Weapons of Mass Entertainment and Surfdog Records, is releasing an album of his most celebrated material rejuvenated with the full orchestra. The new album, “Dave Stewart Songbook, Vol. 1,” will be accompanied bya hard-cover, glossy book of the same title.
